Why am I like this?

It’s a question I’ve asked myself for over 40 years.  Additionally, I will continue to ask for years to come. Certainly, it will never be fully answered but I have more clarity now than I ever have. Thanks to my energetic self perception.

Why??

A few reasons…

First, therapy and coaching have supported me in understanding how my unique life experience has created the lens through which I see the world.

Second, meditation has supported me in creating metal clarity, and seeing my truth, or seeing things as they are.

Finally, my study of Energetic Self Perception has helped me to understand that I have choice over my thoughts, feelings, and actions.  

Historically, I’d understood energy to be simple…

First, “I have the energy to go out tonight…or I don’t.” 

Second, “I have energy to study something new…or I don’t.”

Third, “I have energy to plan a party…or I don’t”

There are more layers, or levels, to it.  And as much as I advocate for simplicity, the truth is that we are complex beings.  

Also, it’s easy to go through our days on the surface.  Additionally, we can go through the motions robotically without allowing ourselves to feel.  But when we ache for something more, we can dive into the energetic self-perception concept to gain insights into our thoughts and emotions.

In short, through an Energy Assessment, we can learn our energetic preferences for when things are going well vs. when we are stressed.  For instance, where we fall on the 7 levels can differ depending on our stress level.  This difference in levels is normal.  Through my taking of the assessment, I learned that when I am high, I am high.  And when I go low, I go low.  It also validated that the work I’ve done on myself works!

The beauty of this assessment is that it measures attitude. For example, take it now, and you may get one result.  Take it again in 6 months, and your result may be different.  This result is especially true if you’ve received coaching, therapy, spiritual guidance, or any other healing modality.

It showcases the 7 energy levels taught in iPec’s coach training program, where I studied.  At first glance, it looks colorful and complex, but it’s now become part of my vocabulary.  It’s also become a common language I use with my clients as we hone in on their choices while overcoming or challenging their default behaviors.  

It’s supported me in putting more trust in myself with less reliance on outside validation.  This alone is power and comes back to that sense of choice, which allows for letting go of being plagued by ‘have-tos.’

Also, I feel it’s important to point out that there is no good or bad energy.  All the levels are helpful in some way and too much of any of them could be problematic.  Particularly, we’re looking for balance and to understand, not judge our tendencies.  

If you can’t tell, I’m passionate about this topic. After reading Bruce’s book, I was even more emotional because I saw the transformation of the person’s story and those around him.
